Giallo Portofino is quarried in Brazil. It is a granite formed mainly of golden, coarse-grain crystals that run from elongated to nearly void. To a lesser degree, there are also yellow-brown crystals along with black biotite crystals. As new boulders are opened the gold tone will change. It is also possible for the slabs to have some movement and shading from one side of the slab to the other. During the polishing process, an epoxy resin is applied to the surface of the slab to fill in any natural pits, cracks or fissures that may exist in the stone. This does not affect the durability, maintenance or beauty of the slab. It is possible for some of the more minute pits that are too small to effectively hold the resin, to reopen during other finishing stages. However, this will not detract from the overall quality or appearance of the stone. As a natural stone product, it is recommended that this be sealed to extend its longevity.
This granite is also known as Autumn Gold, Napolitano, Santa Cecilia "A" or Santa Helena.
